Have a Great Time, Help Some Kids, Ogle Obama

2006_05_realityofhope.jpgThis Thursday there's a great benefit going on where you can help some kids who need help dearly while you enjoy some live music, great hors d'oeuvres, drinks and an auction. Plus Barack Obama is the honorary chair, if you've ever wanted to see and hear him speak up close.

The benefit is the second annual "Reality of Hope" fundraiser to benefit international HIV-exposed children orphaned by AIDS. All of the proceeds benefit Chances by Choice, a nonprofit based in Oak Park that assists HIV-exposed kids from around the world in finding adoptive families. Lots of children live in countries where the stigma surrounding HIV and AIDS and the lack of resources for prevention and treatment have created a health crisis. Chances by Choice focuses on finding homes for kids who currently live in those low-income places.

"Reality of Hope" takes place from 6-9pm at the Chicago Cultural Center. Tickets are $75 in advance, $85 at the door and can be purchased online or by calling 708-524-4673.
