City Hall Corruption Trial Begins

By Amy Hart in News on May 10, 2006 6:27PM

2006_05_chicagoseal.gifJury selection in the trial against Scott Sorich, Mayor Daley's former patronage chief, and three other former city officials begins today.

Sorich and his co-defendants are accused of making up job interview scores for Daley supporters and covering up evidence of patronage in city hirings and promotions.

Daley himself has not been accused of wrongdoing. He had no comment on the trial yesterday, but he did shoot back at Representative Luis Gutierrez's assertions that his administration is corrupt and focuses on the wrong issues.

So are you ready for more trial madness? We're just happy the George Ryan trial is over because we can only handle one government corruption trial at a time.
