Absolute Cintron

2006_06_sports_alex_cintron.jpgWith the AL Central-leading Detroit Tigers in town for a 3-game set this week, Sox fan were anxious to see how their team would play against the only team in baseball with a better record. Fans would get a better idea whether the Tigers are for real, or simply got off to a hot start.

So, far things are looking up for the White Sox, although maybe not for Juan Uribe. Having missed the past two games to be with his wife as she gives birth, substitute shortstop Alex Cintron provided the game-winning offense in each of the two Sox 4-3 victories. Last night, Cintron drove in Joe Crede on a 7th inning single, which gave them their margin of victory.

The night before, Cintron knocked out a 3-run homer in the 8th that turned a 3-1 defecit into a 4-3 victory.

Alex Cintron? Who's he you ask? Picked up from the Arizona Diamondbacks for Jeff Bajenaru in March, Cintron came in a the team's backup utility infielder after primarily starting at shortstop for Arizona. After his performance the past two nights, think he'll be in the lineup even if Uribe returns to the team? Did Guillen call him up and tell him to spend another day with his wife and baby? Chicagoist wouldn't put anything past Ozzie if it would help his team win.
