Rotisserie Wine League

2006_06_bistro110.gifActually, Chicagoist thinks this idea's pretty cool. For all you folks who think picking a wine for dinner is as simple as reaching for the shelf, Bistro 110 is hosting a "Sommelier for a Day" event this evening.

From 6-9 p.m. attendees will sample wines (served with heavy hors d'oeuvres, so you don't sip and swirl yourself silly) and then have the opportunity to vote their favorites onto the restaurant's wine list. Now it's your opportunity to discover why a sommelier pairs wines with food the way he or she does. Or maybe you want to be a wise-ass and add Night Train to the menu as a compliment to foie gras. Whoa, what are we thinking? We live in Chicago. The geese have rights here. Hey, City Council! How's enforcing the Shakman decree going?

Anyway, the cost to do this is really cheap ($19.95 excluding tip and taxes), and, the next time you go back to Bistro 110, you can point to your wine list and say, "I'll have my wine, please." Bistro 110 is recommending reservations, which can be made by dialing (312) 266-3114.
