Polish Boxing Explosion

06_21_06_boxing.gifSince the Polish soccer team has played itself out of the World Cup, Chicagoist was looking for a new group of Poles to get behind. Tomorrow at 8pm, boxing fans can see some of Poland's best boxers at the Polish Boxing Explosion event at Odeum Expo Center in Villa Park.

The headline fight is between Heavyweight Mariusz "The Gladiator" Wach (10-0, 3 KO's) and Canadian Aurthur Cook (12-1-1, 3 KOs) for the Polish Heavyweight title. Chicagoist admits to not knowing too much about boxing, so we always pick the boxer with the better nickname. As Cook seems to be minus a nickname altogether, we are counting on "The Gladiator" to win this 10-round bout. The fact that Wach is also 10-0 with three knockouts helps our cause.

Prior to headline fight there are several undercard fights including a Polish Super Middleweight Title fight between Jaime Sandoval (10-1, 8 KOs) and Pete Cantu (7-5-1, 6 KOs).

Tickets range from $40 - $90 and are available through Ticketmaster.
