Breaking: Dirksen in Lockdown

By Erin in News on Jun 22, 2006 6:06PM

The Trib is reporting that U.S. Marshals are conducting a floor-to-floor search at the Everett M. Dirksen Federal Building for a man who escaped custody during a court appearance.

Seems Larnell Rogers took off to escape within the building when he learned that a warrant had been issued for his arrest. U.S. Marshall Kim Widup told the Trib that while it's not known if Rogers is armed, they don't consider him to be a violent threat. Just the same, court officials were instructed to lock all of the doors in the building.

According to the Trib story, the only reason the warrant was issued was because Rogers showed up late for court for a routine hearing on charges that he lied to someone with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Now is it just us, but don't you have to be a special kind of stupid to show up to court late? Come on.
