Live Action Movie Thursdays!

swf.jpgA good movie may gross the big bucks and win the awards, but the Neo-Futurists recognize that a truly bad movie will stay with you for a long, long time. Tomorrow night they open the fifth annual festival of wonderfully awful films, skewered on stage for your entertainment, known as It Came From the Neo-Futurarium. Rachel Claff and Jay Torrence will recreate, as best they can on the cozy Neo stage, Bridget Fonda and Jennifer Jason Leigh’s catfights in Single White Female.

jazzsing.jpgAnd it only gets campier from there. Each week through August 3, expect everything from Mystery Science Theater-grade sci fi (keep next Thursday night clear for KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park) to Made-for-TV 'Ripped from the Headlines' flicks (think Winter Olympics meets trailer trash) to roller skating action heroes to Neil Diamond’s cheddariffic Jazz Singer, featuring a live band and a cameo by an original cast member. Whether or not this summer’s parade of blockbusters disappoints, this series likely won’t.

It Came From the Neo-Futurarium: Bride of the Neo-Futurarium! runs Thursday nights at 8pm through August 3 at the Neo-Futurarium, Tickets are $8-10. More information and the full schedule at the Neo-Futurists website.
