Too Much Metal For Just One Fist

Bible Of The Devil are one of those bands covered from the exhaust of a poorly-ventilated touring van and fingernails crusted with oil from quick repairs in the middle of nowhere. They are a band that means business. Their lifestyle of lawless abandon and musical prowess needs to be kept under constant guard lest it escape and take out the townspeople with its ferocity.
Okay, maybe we’re getting a little carried away. What can we say? We dig ‘em.
Bible Of The Devil has been a Chicago staple for a number of years, proving their mettle and holding up against the best local, regional and national punk/rawk/metal acts that they share a stage with. The group’s sound began as a frenzied blur of frenetic noise barely penetrated by tortured yowls but in recent years the group has slowed down its sound losing none of the menace while gaining much greater focus. Where before there was a wall of impenetrable noise there is now the crashing surf of grand guitars and thunderous drums. The group is putting the finishing touches on their latest (and, to date, most daring) disc so expect to hear lots of new tunes when they play at Double Door tonight.
Opening the show is Priestess, yet another kick-ass band from Canada. What IS in the water up there? Priestess travels a slightly more commercial stoner-boogie route that breaks absolutely no new ground but remains grimy fun anyway. Actually, we’re pretty sure that they sound exactly like Velvet Revolver would, if Velvet Revolver didn’t suck.
Pump your fists, drink some cheap beer, chase it with some even cheaper bourbon, and enjoy the ride at Double Door tonight. Blackmaker and The Resinators are also on the bill.
