Participate! Tips, Links, Photos, Favorites

The Gothamist Tech Team has been hard at work over the weekend upgrading and migrating our servers to help fight spam and ensure site stability. Thanks Neil, Jeff & Frank! While they were at it, they incorporated some features that have already been in place at Gothamist and have been popular there. Altogether these new features are called Chicagoist Labs, and they make the site even more interactive and allow you to participate in making the site even better.

The first part of Chicagoist Labs is a new Contribute section that also gets pulled into the left sidebar. Here you will not only be able to tag your Flickr photos with "Chicagoist" to let other readers view your photos on the Chicagoist web site, but you're also able to tag your del.icio.us links with "for:chicagoist_fave" to have them included on the site too. Finally, in the contribute area, there is also a new space where you can leave us tips.

Another new addition to Chicagoist Labs lets you click a link to recommend the post. This link is at the bottom of each post. See it? Right next to the comments link. The system now keeps a tally of the most recommended and most commented on posts, and so using this we can see everyone's favorite posts.

We're really excited about these new features and are really looking forward to having our readers participate in new ways ... so have at it!
