A New Bastion of Laughs

A few hours after conception, Chicago’s newest comedy blog was already yapping away about its cute little self.

The Bastion is the Chicago outpost of The Apiary, a NYC blog exploring how comedy responds to the world and how the world responds in kind. And yes, it was born yesterday. The local blog is still nursing at mama's teat but if it takes off like its New York counterpart, we could be hearing more about niche comedy inflitrating the mainstream, how to make it in the business, and spittake-inducing video.

Our city’s respected comedy scene often takes a backseat to our respected theater scene, so we hope to see these bloggers bring the funny people and their Chicago audience closer together. We also appreciate their shout out to the always amusing Yacht Rock video, particularly since we’re fans of that smooth, smooth sound.
