Chicagoist is stoked to be helping CTA junkie Tony Coppoletta with his latest project - Soul of Chicago Express: a private 'L' train history tour. On August 27, join us for this 3 1/2 hour adventure, and you'll learn more about the CTA rail system, the neighborhoods we traverse, and architectural history and trivia regarding the handful of stations we'll visit across the city.

The tour will be hosted by Tony, himself, and there will also be music (by Kristine of Planet Earth Chicago) and snacks (provided by us!) for the ride. Everyone is meeting up at 1pm at the main lobby of the Wilson stop on the Red Line (enter the station on Broadway), and the tour lasts about 3 1/2 hours. See the the tour itinerary and map here. The cost is $27, which covers the cost of chartering the train from the CTA and paying for its crew. An after-party/meetup is still being discussed and will be announced at a later date. Keep checking chicagotraintour.com for updates. Questions? Check out the tour FAQ, or drop Tony an email.
