There's No Sitting on the Champagne Chair

2006_07_26champagne2.jpgSure, you like to sip the bubbly, but is that as far as you go? If you think sitting on a Champagne bottle is something you’d never do, perhaps it’s time to open your mind and adopt a try-anything-once attitude.

If you’re ready for a new experience, check out the Design Within Reach Champagne Chair Tour next week at Tree Studios (10 E. Ohio). The exhibit will showcase 50 miniature chairs made from nothing but the wire, cork and foil of two Champagne bottles.

What, you thought we were talking about something else? Pervert.

The chairs were selected from more than 600 entries in the DWR annual contest and have been touring the country since March. Krista Charles of Indianapolis took first place with her Patrick Chair. Local winners and honorable mentions include “Sara Chair” by Hector Sanchez, “Stella” by Erin Bazos and “Study 37” by Eric Schumacher.

The exhibit will run from August 1-7. There will be a reception on Thursday, August 3 from 6-8 p.m. To attend, RSVP to tree@dwr.com by August 1.
