O Henry

Chunklet.jpgWe here at the Chicagoist offices like to play the “who’s overrated?” game. We usually start off with a rousing “ANGELINA JOLIE!”; and then do a quick step to “Bill Gates!”; and then one final “Julia Roberts!” and we’re done. It’s a fun game, but we just keep saying the same answers over and over again.

Now we’ve got help. Henry Owings has a new book called “The Overrated Book”. “The Overrated Book” has roughly 30-35 of today’s wittiest writers (including David Cross, Sarah Silverman and Patton Oswalt), ruminating on all things overrated. Some of the categories are:

The Most Overrated Records In Rock
Most Overrated Cities To Play In America
Most Overrated Actors
Most Overrated Drummers

Henry Owings is one of the creators and current publisher of Chunklet Magazine; a magazine devoted to outing the truth about the music scene in a hilarious anti-hipster kinda way (hipster fight, hipster fight!). Owings is also working on some honest-to-goodness prank comedy with the Buckshot Boys. We haven’t seen the DVD ourselves, but it’s on our list now, it looks hilarious.

On Quimby’s website, it says to “Expect surprises, hijinx and maybe an exclusive top-secret Chunklet film screening”. Hijinx? Expect hijinx? Count us in; we think hijinx are totally underrated.

You can see Henry Owings at Quimby’s, 1854 W. North Ave., Thurs. Aug. 10 at 7:00PM. This event is free.
