Beefy Guys Win Big at Emmys

By Scott Smith in Arts & Entertainment on Aug 28, 2006 2:45PM

The Emmys were last night, and if you cared, you watched. So the three of you that did can skip this post and move down the page to see what the other -ISTs wrote about last week.

As for the rest of you who were catching up on episodes of "Degrassi: The Next Generation" during the big ol’ marathon this weekend, you can check out the Mo Ryan’s wrap-up here, complete with all the good Conan jokes.

2006_08_kiefer.jpgThe big winner last night was “24,” which picked up five awards: best drama series, directing for a drama series, a couple technical awards and best actor in a dramatic series for our man-crush Kiefer Sutherland. Now if only there was an award for Best Performance in a Dramatic Attack on A Holiday Decoration.

Chicagoan (or is that Evanstonian?) Jeremy Piven, 2006_08_piven.jpgwon for supporting actor in a comedy series for tapping into his id as Ari Gold. This was Piven’s second nomination for the role and his first Emmy. Lindsay Lohan offered to appear in a bikini again to celebrate, but all involved declined the offer as they had just eaten and didn’t want to get queasy.

We’ll also take a moment to say something nice about Wisconsin and give big ups to Green Bay’s favorite son Tony Shalhoub for his "Monk" win.

A complete list of the winners is here.
