Rogue Wave/The Grates Ticket Giveaway

By Scott Smith in Arts & Entertainment on Sep 1, 2006 6:02PM

Another month, another ticket giveaway. This time we’re giving away a pair of passes to see Rogue Wave and The Grates 2006_08_grates.jpgat Logan Square Auditorium on Thursday, September 7th at 8:30 p.m.

Rogue Wave is still touring in support of their 2005 album Descended Like Vultures and will play Bumbershoot this weekend. The Oakland, CA foursome was last here in June, and were quite effusive about it.

As for The Grates, we last saw them open for The Go Team! at Metro and dug ‘em. Whereas Rogue Wave is atmospheric and dreamy, The Grates are direct and punchy. The Australian band sports a lead singer named Patience, whose vocals are the antithesis of a polite young lady. The romantic frustration of her lyrics (and liberal use of the F-bomb) is surrounded by frenetic, nervous guitars from one John Patterson and the ska-punk drumming of Alana Skyring.

In addition to the tickets for you and a friend, we’re also throwing in some Grates schwag: a t-shirt, a signed CD and a vinyl 7-inch that you can show off to that cute music geek you’ve been trying to woo since Pitchfork Fest.

Click the link below to enter the contest and don’t dawdle! We’re closing the giveaway by Tuesday afternoon so make sure you enter before you fall into a BBQ coma this weekend. Winners will be notified on Tuesday night. Losers will have to suffer in silence.
