The Chicagoist will be launching later but in the meantime please enjoy our archives.

Crack Is Whack, Indeed.

You know, when Chicagoist received an internal office email alerting us to the impending divorce of Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston, the subject line read "!!!." Obviously, we all were just as animated in our reaction to this news as the next celebrity stalker.

Although, in all fairness, the email also included a link to the latest evidence of Lindsey Lohan's penchant for a close shave if you know what we mean and we think that you do. The unbridaled enthusiasm could have been a reference to this so-not-at-all-whatsoever-safe-for-work picture.

2006_09_zwecker.jpgJust the same, does anyone else find it rather, we don't know, bloggy of the Chicago Sun-Times' Bill Zwecker to go all exclamation point-happy in his reporting of the Houston/Brown split? For God's sake, he used the word "friggin'" in the lede. Did his head spin around and spontaneously combust when he learned of this news, hence the inability to control himself with the punctuation?

Chicagoist is half-surprised he didn't queen out on us all and type out "OHMIGOD!" in the headline.

We're not one to care much about how a gossip columnist presents his "news," and we never miss Zwecker's columns, even if sometimes he's a day late and a dollar short. Just the same, the whole thing just struck us curious ... anyone else?
