The novelty of YouTube has yet to wear off for us, and it’s helping make the day go by quickly.

Chicagoist spent a lot of time as a kid propped up in front of the TV so the jingles for these old-school commercials are burned into our brains. This is the most complete version of the old Victory Auto Wreckers (710 East Green in Bensenville!) we’ve ever seen. Then there’s Aronson Furniture, the home of the credit connection (we think it was some guy named Steve who had a crash pad in the back). And if this blogging thing doesn't work out, maybe we can attend the Lincoln Technical Institute.

Someone with a lot of time on their hands uploaded some commercial breaks from Channel 32 back before WFLD got all Fox-y. First Metropolitan Carpets and Harlem Furniture (You’ll like our … style!) are both here. Then this break features a place called Boushelle’s that we’ve never heard of.

And remember when some guy broke into an old episode of Doctor Who wearing a Max Headroom mask and talking crazy? Chicagoist reader Ian Austin sent us the link for a news story on the incident.

And if none of that floats your boat then maybe this video for Easy Lover will (is that Phillip Bailey’s own helicopter or did he rent that to get to the video shoot?).
