Have you dreamed of being Danny Zuko or Sandy Olsson ever since you saw the movie musical as a kid? Here's your chance to make your dreams of becoming a Greaser or a Pink Lady come true.
NBC is searching for contestants to compete for the romantic lead roles of "Grease" as part of its new talent series "You're the One That I Want." Open casting calls will be held in Chicago at 8 a.m. on October 20 at the Portage Theater. Up for grabs is the chance to star in the new production of "Grease," which is scheduled to open on Broadway in June 2007. In this day and age, when any sort of competition is reason enough for a reality TV show, contestants who make it thorugh the open calls will then compete for "Grease" roles on "You're the One That I Want."
Producers say all you have to do is be 18 or older and able to sing, act and dance. Contestants will need to be able to sing one "Grease" song and one song of their choosing. Since the winner is going to be on Broadway, we know some serious talent will show up, but let's face it. This is also going to be a reality show, and you know that there's going to be at least an hour of it dedicated to making fun of the fuckups who show up. So, our advice: Even if you can't sing and dance, if you've just always loved "Grease," show up, and audition. We'd love to point and laugh at you when the show airs!
