Lupe Fiasco - Cancelled? Not So Much.

By Scott Smith in Arts & Entertainment on Sep 19, 2006 5:23PM

If you're a big MySpace fan or peeped the back of the RedEye this morning, you've undoubtedly heard about the free Lupe Fiasco 2006_09_lupe.jpgshow at Metro tonight. But we've heard some rumors that the show will be cancelled tonight due to Mr. Fiasco being quite under the weather.

According to WGN Morning News, he was supposed to appear on their show but was so ill that he showed up with an IV in his arm. Word is that the show might be cancelled, but if the dude showed up for an interview with an IV, he might end up going on as planned anyway. We're looking into this and will post confirmation here when we know what's up.

Meanwhile, add MySpace Secret Shows to your top 8, print out your profile, and take it down to the soon-to-be-bankrupt Tower Records on Clark to get a wristband for admission to the show.

UPDATE: Here's the official word from Metro: "Due to illness, Lupe Fiasco will not be performing tonight. However, in order to not disappoint his fans, he will make an appearance and spin his new album. The opening acts, DJ Tone B Nimble and Gemini, will still perform. You never know, if Lupe feels up to it, you might hear one or two songs live!" More here at Metro's blog.
