No Place Like Home

Chicagoist is pet friendly and nothing breaks our heart more than to see homeless dogs and cats. We firmly believe in adopting pets and if you’re thinking about welcoming a new member into your home, check out the latest Chicago arrivals.
Animal shelters along the Gulf Coast continue to find homeless animals and are unable to care for them all. Several of the homeless pets have been sent to Chicago for adoption, ABC reported. Volunteers from PAWS Chicago brought more than 40 dogs and cats from Mississippi to PAWS’ West Side facility earlier this week.
"We emptied (the shelter) out. But it will be filled in another day or two,” PAWS Chicago founder Paula Fasseas told ABC. “Many of these are animals people now living in trailers can no longer keep. They are with their children. They are very small trailers, so they are giving them up.”
PAWS volunteers have been making trips back and forth from the Gulf Coast since the hurricane, and hundreds of stranded pets have already come to Chicago for adoption.
Chicagoist thinks shelter dogs and cats are the sweetest and, to us, seem extra grateful to their new moms and dads. We hope these Chicago transplants find loving homes soon.
