Strep Throat? What Strep Throat?

To violently paraphrase Mark Twain, reports of Lupe Fiasco’s 2006_09_lupe2.jpgillness were greatly exaggerated.

According to MTV, Fiasco was diagnosed with strep throat on Friday and cancelled several appearances over the weekend, but still managed to hit his hometown for appearances here. We reported on Tuesday that he’d likely be taking it easy during his show at Metro that night, but according to an article on Pitchfork, Fiasco took care of business.

Though he rapped along with his record to support his sore throat, “Fiasco brought verve and spunk, hopping about the stage, temple veins popping out as he spit rhyme after rhyme, all of them pretty much flawless.” The ‘Fork’s got pictures galore of the show as well.

Fiasco's album, Food and Liquor, finally dropped Tuesday after spending months on file-sharing sites. Yet somehow, we expect that Lupe's not hurting for cash if the 12-minute outro track containing shout-outs to all his endorsement deals is any indication. Still, be sure to pick it up at a record store near you or you'll end up like Tommy Chong.
