More Thumbs Up for Ebert

By Scott Smith in Arts & Entertainment on Sep 25, 2006 6:00PM

As Roger Ebert continues his recovery, more and more people are contributing to our Get Well Roger photo group on 2006_09_ebert1.jpgFlickr.

Thanks to all the bloggers and writers who’ve helped spread the word about our project, including the folks at ABC-7, Oscarwatch and RogerEbert.com.

The best part about this is hearing from all the folks who’ve been affected by Ebert’s writing over the years, both in the Flickr group and on our original post. More than one commenter has confessed to wandering into crappy movies like Jackass 2 and The Black Dahlia without his criticism to guide them.

Right now, the group sports 107 members and 89 photos from film fans as far away as the UK and Nepal! 2006_09_ebert2.jpgTo see all the pics, you have to join the group though 40 of them are viewable by anyone.

But we want more! So whip out those digitals and start uploading your thumbs. Click here to access the group then click on the Join This Group link. Then view your photo, click Add To Group, and select Get Well Roger. Once we accumulate enough photos, we’ll send ’em off to
the man himself. We’re planning on passing 100 early this week with many more to come.

Until he’s back on his feet, you can get your Ebertian fix from his new book, Awake In The Dark, a collection highlighting essays, interviews and reviews throughout his 40-year career. RogerEbert.com will publish excerpts from the work over the next month.
