Going the Distance

The Chicago Marathon is less than a month away. Since Chicagoist has not exactly been training for the October race, we are thinking of taking this one off. Although we will not be on the list of Elite runners competing in the event the event organizers continue to add more top flight runners to the roster which can be found on the event website.
We plan on drafting Robert Cheruiyot to our fantasy team and heading out to the race to support him as he will surely take a chunk of the $650,000 pot, split among the top finishers. Cheruiyot set a new course record enroute to winning the Boston Marathon back in April, running it in just 2:07:14.
This year, the Chicago Marathon has an official shoe designed by New Balance. The shoe was created with marathon runners in mind with a design that makes the shoe a responsive trainer that provides exceptional cushioning and shock absorption. As an added bonus, the shoe comes with the race logo on the tongue and a race map on the insole of the shoe.
Chicagoist figures the only person who might need that map is Robert Cheruiyot as he is sure to be leading the pack. Everyone else should be able to follow the crowd to the finish line at Grant Park.
