Had a Bad Day

What a bad day for the Brown. Not such a great day for the Red Line either. It took Chicagoist 2 hours to get to work today and we heard it took some people up to 3 hours. We sat at the Belmont stop for about a half hour and were told that a piece of rail was "kind of" missing up ahead. At the same time, someone on the train got a message that the power was out somewhere. And then our CTA train driver came back into the cars to let everyone know it was a piece of track missing between Belmont and Armitage.

One of our coworkers was told on his train that there were "issues with the track" and another friend said they were told it was a power outage. That friend had to take a shuttle to work. We took the Brown Line, but on the Red Line tracks. Just when we were getting going, we got stopped again. Medical emergency, ambulance on the way.

So what was going? We mean, REALLY. What's with the mixed messages? Well, it looks like it was the perfect storm this morning. According to the Trib, the Brown, Purple and Red lines were delayed because of a "defect" on a section of track AND there was a power outage that caused signal problems on the Red Line near Barry, between the Belmont and Wellington stations AND a woman get hit and killed by a Brown Line train at the Wellington stop.

Everything all on one day. This is way worse than the Blue Line fire. How late were YOU for work?
