What is Tiramisu? You'll Find Out.

2006_09_tiramisu.jpgThe cover story of today's Sun-Times' "Weekend Plus" section is a comparison of tiramisu from ten different Chicago restaurants. On a four fork scale - one being "skip dessert" and four meaning "tiramisu heaven" - only three restaurants scored four forks on their tiramisu: Maggiano's, Rosebud on Rush, and Trattoria 31, which we reviewed back in May.

In just a few short months, Paco Ruiz and his staff at Trattoria 31 have earned a good rep for their menu, especially the desserts. We still cop a sugar high thinking about their chocolate fondue lava cake. Coupled with their recently acquired liquor license, the crowds are starting to flock to this quaint little trattoria. For those of you who realize that the city limits don't end in the Loop, it's a wonderful restaurant to visit. For you anonymous commenters who like to tell us to "eff Bridgeport", we're sure you'll be happy with the hot wings at your nearby Lincoln Park "Irish" bar.
