Think Pink, Eat Chocolate

By Hanna Aronovich in Food on Oct 3, 2006 12:17PM

It doesn’t take much arm-twisting to get us to dive into a box of chocolates, so when there’s an added bonus of a good cause, consider us on board. In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Fannie May will be supporting the PINK Campaign to raise money for local cancer centers. Maggie Daley is serving as the honorary chair. Through October, Fannie May will donate 10 percent of sales on all its pink confections to Cancer Wellness Center in Northbrook, Gilda's Club Chicago, Jennifer S. Fallick Cancer Support Center in Homewood, Wellness House in Hinsdale, and Wellness Place in Palatine.

Items in the pink collection include Pink Pixies, Pink Mint Meltaways, Pink Ladies and Peppermint Ice, as well as Dark Chocolate Squares and Milk Chocolate Lollipops. The limited-edition PINK confections will be available at all Fannie May shops in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin, and at Jewel, Dominick’s, Walgreen’s and other retailers where pre-packaged Fannie May candies are sold.

Fannie May expects to donate up to $50,000 through this fundraiser, which will be matched by a grant from the Chicago-based Coleman Foundation.

So, now you can eat your chocolate and remain guilt-free. It’s a good cause after all.
