Bettie Serves Up a Show at The Abbey

By Julene McCoy in Arts & Entertainment on Oct 4, 2006 1:00PM

2006_10_bettieserveert_reg.jpgIt's a fifteenth birthday party for Bettie Serveert! Haven't heard that name in a while? Since Belly and Superchunk were the bands of the day and Palomine came out? Well, relive the heyday of college radio with a show on Thursday night at the Abbey Pub.

Bettie Serveert has recently released their 9th album, Bare, Stripped Naked that is, um, a stripped down, er, semi-acoustic sound -- as if it was hard to figure out from the title. The set will include both acoustic and electric songs to cover the years of their existence. And maybe, just maybe, they'll cover "Lover I Don't Have to Love" to give us our O.C. and Conor Oberst fix.

Opening will be Slumber Party out of Detroit with their dream pop.

Thursday, Oct. 5, 8:00 p.m., Abbey Pub, $15, 21+
