10_06_06_windy_city_rollers.jpgThis Sunday, the Windy City Rollers are hosting the Roller Derby Season Playoffs at Cicero Stadium. All four teams of the Windy City Rollers league will be competing to see who will play for the Joy King Cup on November 12. Doors open on Sunday at 5 p.m. The first match features the #2 Double Crossers versus #3 The Fury at 6 p.m. The second match of the night will be between the the top seed Manic Attackers and #4 Hell's Belles immediately following the first match. Tickets to the two matches are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. A portion of the proceeds will benefit PAWS.

The sport of Women's Flat Track Roller Derby is less violent than the 1975 James Kahn film Roller Ball but is by far no skate in the park as the WCR Injury page shows. If you're squemish, you might want to avoid the WCR Injury Gallery.

Prior to heading down to Cicero Stadium to check out some of toughest ladies in Chicago, we recommend you check out the Derby Gameplay Guide on the Windy City Rollers website. The Women's Flat Track Derby Association also outlines the rules in a PDF file on their website. Not that understanding the game is at all required to enjoy yourself.
