Weekend Jaunts: Saturday Edition

We know, we know, you had planned on going to Ikea today to stock up on the new holiday gear. It is October 7 after all. But, damn, there is so much to do here this weekend. How about this? Take this quiz; if you pass, you may proceed to the nearest Ikea location and have at it. If you fail, check out some of these events. Feel free to add more events in the comments section.
• Nothing cooler than an ArtWalk. We have two this weekend, starting with the ArtWalk Ravenswood, at Ravenswood Avenue between Roscoe Street and Foster Avenue. Today features a smattering of events from open artists’ studios, to art in science, to a Rock n’ Roll Puppetry Jam. We are interested to see how that turns out.
• The Rockwell Crossing Art Walk is also taking place today from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. steps from the Rockwell Brown Line stop. Mixed media, sculpture, art & crafts. Plenty for you to lay your pretty little eyes on.
• Didn’t get to snag that commemorative shirt or pin at the 2006 Gay Games? Head over to the warehouse sale; in addition to merchandise you will also be able to grab signage and products used at the games.
• No doubt the nerdiest thing you can do this weekend is at Nick’s, 1140 W. Wilson. The Perplex City Cubefest will be taking place here from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. Perplex City is a collectible card game; each card includes a puzzle that must solved. The answers are entered on the Perplex City website where you keep track of cards solved and points earned. Did we mention the overall objective of the game is to recover a stolen cube that Perplex City thrives on? The cube has special powers, and some ass from another planet stole it. If we seem a little too in to this, well, that is because we are. The Cubefest will involve card trading and, no doubt, some interesting conversation.
