Cold War Kids Ticket Giveaway

By Scott Smith in Arts & Entertainment on Oct 19, 2006 5:41PM

Last week, we recommended catching this weekend’s Cold War Kids show at Hideout. You listened, because the show is sold out. But we’ve got our hands on a pair of tickets to the show and we’re giving them away to you!.

2006_10_coldwarkids.jpgAs one of our commenters pointed out, Cold War Kids was on tour with The Futureheads with a stop at Metro planned for this Saturday before that tour was cancelled due to an injured Futurehead. The band is now set to play an invite-only show at Schuba’s on Friday with The Mugs and a Saturday show at Hideout at 9 p.m. for the rest of the hoi polloi with a Life During Wartime dance party to follow.

Cold War Kids has had quite the year. Being anointed by the blogs as a band-to-watch is a double-edged sword and it’s no blessing for such a new band. Add in expectations due to its label Downtown Records - distributed by Atlantic and home to buzz-heavy bands Art Brut and Gnarls Barkley – they’re pretty much expected to blow away every member of the audience at every show. And if they don’t, someone’s liable to call them with a one-trick pony or other such nonsense.

All that said, this will probably be an excellent show since a small club like Hideout adds instant energy to bands like Cold War Kids and their bluesy riffs will be right at home in the back room. We were concerned that they might not make it after the CWK van broke down, but all seems well now and they're headed our way.

The winner of this giveaway will receive a pair of tickets to this Saturday's show. Click after the jump and fill out the form for your chance to win. But don’t dilly-dally! All entries must be received by 10 p.m. tonight. Winners will be notified via e-mail tomorrow morning. Losers will have to sweet-talk Tim Tuten.
