Empty Out Your Wallet

By Julene McCoy in Arts & Entertainment on Oct 20, 2006 2:50PM

Where can we spend, spend, spend that paycheck? Perhaps a few of these shows going on sale this weekend will empty out that wallet.

2006_10_wilco.jpgWell, the presale is happening today at 10:00 a.m. for Wilco. Don’t be a “turkey” and miss out on this, or Jeff Tweedy just might punch you in the face. Wilco will be at the Auditorium Theatre once again for a pair of shows during the biggest party weekend of the year.
Nov. 24-25, 8:00 p.m., $25.50 - $35.50, All Ages, Regular onsale: Saturday at 11:00 a.m., Presale: Friday at 10:00 a.m.

Feeling a little blue? Need a laugh? Then the Black Jack will be our man. Tenacious D is coming to UIC Pavilion! Everyone knows you’re not hardcore, unless you live hardcore and we take this to mean that if we don’t buy tickets during the presale going on now, or on Saturday – that we’re not living the Tenacious D hardcore existence.
Nov. 24, 8:00 p.m., $40.00, All Ages, Regular onsale: Saturday at noon, Presale: Now through 6:00 p.m.

2006_10_burdenbros.jpgWe caught Texas rock band the Burden Brothers at Lollapalooza this summer and noted the deference that the rest of the band gave lead singer, Vaden Todd Lewis formerly of the Toadies. We think this show at Double Door should be the perfect setting for their gritty rock-n-roll. Plus, it’s pretty cheap!
Nov. 29, 9:00 p.m., $10, 21+, Onsale: Saturday at noon.

If Ike Reilly and the Assassination haven’t been on the radar, try and catch them this November at the Double Door. This poet rocker and his amazing band have quite the rabid following and they (the fans, as well as the band) are out to have a grand old time.
Nov. 18, 9:00 p.m., $18, 21+, Onsale: Saturday at noon.

Most tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster with their lovely fees, but head over to the Double Door’s box office and save a few bucks.
