In the Year 2011 Will We Still Be Able To Traverse Grant Park?

2006_10_lilac.jpgMost of the time we like to complain about how nothing gets done in Chicago unless the right wheels are greased, but this time we agree with the greasing that’s going on. We get to keep Lollapalooza for five more years, if the Chicago Park District votes to approve the deal on Wednesday. We know they’ll do the right thing. Wink. Wink. Our gift was delivered, right?

Over the last two years, the Park District has received $1,000,000 to help improve parks and neighborhoods from the music festival set up by Capital Sports & Entertainment. Some of the funds have gone to plant 340 crabapple trees and 600 lilac trees in Hutchinson Field. Expect even more wonderful smells next spring when another 600 lilacs will be planted.

It’s never too early to start the speculation on who will be the headliners in 2011. What’s your guess? Tweedy’s kids again? Or those Spears kids in some sort of freak Federline mousketeer club? Or do Michael Jackson’s kids get in on the game somehow?
