Thax Sings!

While it hasn’t exactly been occupying our every thought, we have occasionally wondered what Thax Douglas 2006_10_thaxkitty.jpgis up to out in New York. Last week, before Riviera took the stage at Martyr’s, we even caught ourselves mumbling things like “the earth wraps itself in a sheet of pale indigo cockle shells and absorbs its balmy reputation over the rice paddies of insolence.”

Anyway, through the magic of MySpace, we discovered that Thax is still writing poems, and is also staying with a band called Skeletons and The Girl-Faced Boys (the band plays Empty Bottle on November 20th).

NYC’s been so good for Thax’s muse that he’s taken to writing songs with Matt Mehlman of Skeletons. Thax says in a blog post that “after a few rough tries we came up with songs that can be sung more than once.” He’s posted the lyrics to his songs as well as a few tracks. And they’re …

Well …

Let’s just say they’re creepy enough to be the prefect accompaniment to your homemade haunted house this weekend, and leave it at that.

Thax also mentions he plans on coming back to Chicago, but no word on a timeline or whether he'll join his musical collaborators at their Bottle show in November.
