Teenager Charged with Newborn's Murder

Remember high school? Yeah, unfortunately, you do. Remember being 14 and confused by just trying to figure out your goddamned schedule and where your locker was and whether or not the older kids thought you were cool? Well, imagine all of that while being pregnant, too. Only no one knew, not even your mother. That was the situation in which one 14-year-old girl in south suburban Sauk Village found herself on Wednesday. She gave birth to a baby girl, then suffocated her and placed her in a garbage can. On Friday she was charged with first-degree murder.
Apparently no one knew she was pregnant, not even her doctor when she went to get a physical for school. (That might be another doctor eligible for a license suspension.) Her mother was asleep when the baby came. She didn't want the mother to know, so she delivered herself around 3 a.m. Wednesday morning. The girl tried to feed her, but ended up smothering her and throwing her into a receptacle in the family's garage. One of the girl's sisters found the baby; paramedics were unable to revive her. The unnamable girl will be tried as a juvenile. A 13-year-old sibling had just given birth two weeks prior. No news on that baby's status, although we assume it's all right.
We can only imagine what a house of madness that place is. The mother has 14 adopted children, then complained that social services hadn't given her family any counseling when she asked for it two years ago. If we were social services, we wouldn't have touched that house with a ten-foot-pole. When you adopt 14 children, don't you think in the back of your mind that maybe, just maybe, that might create problems in the future? Good for her for saving children from the fate her own daughter inflicted on her baby, but come on. After a point it does more harm than good.
