Weekend Jaunts: Saturday Edition

By Timmy Watson in Arts & Entertainment on Oct 28, 2006 3:16PM

What a change? We woke up this morning and remembered that occasionally the sky is clear enough that you can see the sun. We have put together some events that are going on around town today so that you can't get out before the wind kicks your ass. As always, feel free to add events in the comments.

  • We heard One Ring Zero on All Songs Considered a few weeks back and were pretty excited when we found out The Gene Siskel Film Center was going to present a documentary on the duo. The documentary, As Smart As They Are: The Author Project, chronicles the experience the band had while enlisting authors (like Paul Auster!) to write lyrics for songs that they would then write music for. The documentary starts at 4:45 p.m. at 164 N State.
  • Happy 250th Birthday Mozart! You don't look a day over 175. While he was actually born in January, at 250 you get a year of celebrations. In honor of the many ears and minds he has blessed the Depaul University School of Music will be performing his complete piano sonatas this weekend. The performance starts at 3:00 p.m. in the concert hall at 804 W Belden. Did we mention it is free?
  • Finally, Chicago Artists' Month is winding down and today we thought you could take a walk through Ferrari Studios. The gallery will feature artworks from sculptor Virginio Ferrari and video projections by Marco G. Ferrari. Trust us, the walk through the gallery will be much better than the adventures of trying to navigate the sculptors' website.
