Green and Orange Line Service Restored

By Timmy Watson in News on Oct 29, 2006 6:13PM

06_10_29_greenline.jpgJust as our friends were getting used to avoiding the suspension of the Green and Orange Line service between Roosevelt and the Loop, they get the good news that service has been restored. At 8 p.m. last night the CTA resumed the service that was disrupted earlier in the week by the fire in the Wirt Dexter Commercial Loft building.

While we lament the loss of the building we are surprised to hear the tracks are open so quickly. On Friday, passengers were relayed the message that tracks were closed "indefinitely." We guess that the CTA is getting better at managing expectations.

In other CTA service news, there was a report of a crack near the Division stop on the Blue Line. The track is currently operating on a single track. It is only causing slight delays, but we cringe when we hear the words crack and Blue Line in the same sentence.
