Favourite Sons Ticket / CD Giveaway!

By Tankboy in Arts & Entertainment on Nov 1, 2006 6:45PM

2006_11_favourite_sons.jpgFavourite Sons are from Brooklyn, so we have no idea why they threw in the British "u" in their name, but their sound is so snappy we're not really going to pitch a fit about it. Okay, we lied, we DO have an idea why that "u" is there, and it's all tied into a aural aesthetic that traces its roots to Echo and the Bunnymen and the more rigorous guitar workouts in The Smiths catalog.

All of their press photos paint them as some dark band of brooding Anglophiles. While there is a certain darkness in the tone of their songs, it's not a foreboding or chilly shadow. We're actually expecting a live show full of animation and gleeful smiles dotting the room like so many twisted Lite Brites.

We mean, just listen to these two tunes ... do they sound like they were created by a bunch of dudes down in the dumps?

Favourite Sons "Hang On, Girl"
Favourite Sons "Tall Grass"

They'll be in town playing at The Empty Bottle Monday, November 6 (a Monday!), and they've been nice enough to give us a pair of tickets and a copy of their brand new debut album to give away. Register to win after the jump.
