The Gift That Keeps on Giving

11_07_06_excitationsyellow.jpgDuring the months leading up to the holidays, Chicagoist's mailbox is inundated with catalog after catalog. But Chicagoist is looking for better gifts this year than a shirt or other material items that might be soon forgotten or lost. This year, we will be reviewing the Excitations Web site for unique experiences that can be given as gifts. Excitations CEO, Ian Landy, feels "many people have all the material things they want, but they long for great experiences."

Excitations offers experiential gifts, starting as low as $50, that range from glass-blowing to skydiving. They also offer a variety of Chicago-specific experiences. Chicagoist found a couple of cool gifts for under $100 like the Yellow Circle Choice ($75) - it is like a gift card where the gift recipient can choose between a paintball, ghost tour or Segway experience. Or the Gourmet Enthusiasts Cooking ($80) - Fillet, sauté and soufflé! Master the art of cooking, and learn to prepare gourmet cuisine in an exciting, hands-on cooking course.

If you are more of a big spender, they offer some exotic experiences such as an Introduction to Polo ($330), Skydiving ($250), or the Fighter Pilot Experience ($1215).

Tell Chicagoist which Excitations experience you would like for the holidays!
