gt txt updates on yr fav sports teams

Chicagoist reader Big Bad Bob tipped us off to some 4Info.net billboards that have popped up around town. The current billboards are encouraging readers to text Bears to 44636. If you do, you will get a text reply message with the most recent Bears score in addition to a few additional pro or college football results.

You are not limited to texting "Bears" to that number. The service offered by 4Info.net include sports scores (Txt Bears, Blackhawks, Bulls, NFL, NBA, etc.) and fantasy sports updates (Txt Peyton Manning, Rex Grossman, etc.). You can do a one-time search request for a score simply by sending a text request. Or visit their Web site and request to set-up alerts for your favorite team.

Outside of sports, 4Info.net allows you to search for Wi-fi near you, track packages, or get flight status info from someone less biased then your airline. Their Web site lists a variety of search terms that can be used with their service.

On the billboard they advertise that the service is free. That is true, but as always with text messaging, keep in mind your mobile carrier may charge fees for text message usage.
