Weekend Jaunts: Thanksgiving Weekend Edition

Between resting from the family and finishing off the leftover turkey we figure you won’t have too much time for action this weekend. We are bringing you a special Thanksgiving weekend jaunts together for your viewing and doing pleasure. As always, feel free to add additional events in the comments section.
- As the ignoble comments your family made wear off, we suggest laughing at their expense. Second City presents the Dysfunctional Holiday Revue at the Metropolis Performing Arts Centre, 111 W. Campbell, Arlington Heights. On Saturday the event runs at 7 and 9:30 p.m. and on Sunday it starts at 7 p.m.
- There’s nothing better than giving thanks and seeing some great music. “Covers for Cover” at the Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western, is on Saturday and the proceeds will benefit Deborah’s Place, a not for profit dedicated to providing help to homeless women. The bands, which include Manatella and Rah! Rah! Replica, will be covering everything from The Ramones to the Duran Duran. The show starts at 10 p.m. and tickets are $10. Toiletry donations will get you in for $8.
- Keeping with the multiple opportunities to see events this weekend Schubas, 3159 N. Southport, brings you two shows on Saturday with The Changes and +/-. They will play a show at 7 p.m. and a show at 10:30 p.m. We imagine it will be good enough to stay for both.
