We Like Amy Sedaris' I Like You

By Laura Oppenheimer in Arts & Entertainment on Nov 28, 2006 6:45PM

The lovely and talented Amy Sedaris will be at the Borders at 830 N. Michigan Ave. tomorrow night as part of a nationwide book tour for her new book, I Like You: Hospitality Under the Influence. 2006_11_sedaris.jpgThis work is at the top of our Christmas/Chanukah/Kwanzaa gift list (after, of course, everything we asked for yesterday). Sedaris herself is incredibly funny, but also incredibly peculiar, and these two characteristics are wonderfully reflected in I Like You.

First off is the title of the book. Pure genius. Hospitality is never as good as when it is under the influence. The actual content even includes some interesting recipes and ideas, in addition to multiple photos of Sedaris in various states of domestic bliss.

Our favorite tip? When having guests over, make sure to fill up your medicine cabinet with marbles, so if anyone tries to see what you are hiding in there, they will be surprised when hundreds of marbles fall on them. Hilarious! Note that we have no idea how one fills a medicine cabinet with marbles.

I Like You includes recipes for Sedaris’ cupcakes (which are sold in New York City at Joe Coffee), homemade rabbit feed (Sedaris has a mild obsessions with rabbits), and Southern standards like cornbread and fritters (amongst other delicacies), in addition to decorating tips, photos, and even a poster.

The Borders event is at 7:00 p.m. tomorrow night.
