Empty Out Your Wallet

This week it seems almost impossible, but we're looking ahead to even more holidays for the shows that went on sale today.

2006_12_holdsteady.jpgFirst of all, and also on the 1st, The Hold Steady just aren't playing New Year's Eve at the House of Blues, they're gonna stay around for the first day of the year and do it all over again. Boys and Girls in America made 2006 a lot of fun. We think this show will be the right first step into 2007.
House of Blues, Mon. 1/1/07, 7:00 p.m., $16.50, On sale now.

What are we doing for Valentine's Day? Checking out Midlake at Schuba's could be the ticket to our secret crush's heart. This group out of Denton, Texas played Lolla this year and we think the cozy, dark music room at Schuba's will fit their musical sound brilliantly.
Schuba's, Wed. 2/14/07, 9:00 p.m., $12, On sale now.

2006_12_ctfpa.jpgHere's a band whose moniker caught our eye and then their myspace blog tugged at our heart - Casiotone for the Painfully Alone. We were sold when we heard Owen Ashworth's rendition of Paul Simon's "Graceland" which captures CFTPA's simple, melancholy sound. Barr and Marnie Stern complete the bill. Plus, it fills in another holiday - St. Patrick's Day!
Beat Kitchen, Sat. 3/17/07, 10:00 p.m., $8, On sale now.

We'll leave April Fool's open for some pranks and stop with these shows for the upcoming holidays.
