Weekend Jaunts: Saturday Edition

By Timmy Watson in News on Dec 16, 2006 3:48PM

This weekend we thought we would get you in that holiday spirit with some Christmas parties and shopping. With all that family and travel next weekend, this is really your last weekend of the year to let loose. As always, feel free to leave information on other events around the city in the comments section.

  1. This weekend is the holiday bazaar at Country Club Chicago, 1100 N. Damen. The bazaar is from noon - 6 p.m. and will feature baked goods, artwork, jewelry, and other crafty goodness. The listing says you should go because "Department stores certainly won't do, and a gift from Amazon would be relationship suicide," since we've done both already this year, we feel we've got some work to do.

  3. From experience, we feel any pub crawl that begins at 2 p.m. will only lead to pain and embarrassment. Now, throw in a Santa outfit and you've definitely got trouble on your hands. Today at 2 p.m. at the Tavern Tap Pub at the Congress Plaza Hotel, 520 S. Michigan, is the annual SantaCon Chicago. The idea behind SantaCon is to bring joy and cheer to bars around Chicago, we simply find it amazing that we could see a ton of Santa's inebriated on the train.
  4. When we hear the word complimentary, we're there. Tonight at High Dive will be their first Christmas party, featuring complimentary Absolut vodka, Plymouth gin and Level vodka cocktails. High Dive has a great jukebox and the food isn't too bad either, so head over there and park yourself in one of the massive booths and enjoy the free drinks.
