History's Most Deserving of Time's Person of the Year Award, You.

06_12_17_timemagazine.jpgDear readers, we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on being Time's Person of the Year for 2006. The cover of the annual person of the year issue contains a mylar mirror serving as the monitor of a computer, naming you, the Person of the Year.

The article goes on to explain that with user generated content and blogs becoming more a staple in our lives, we are reshaping the apparatus not simply around media, but arts, culture, accountability, and even our social lives. We feel this represents the contribution our readers give to us, whether it happens through tips, creating discussions in the comment section, or through contributing photos and links that provides us with uncovered content.

Time initially posted a video to YouTube, asking users to upload messages explaining who they feel should receive the honor. Thousands and thousands of videos later, Time realized who deserved the honor.

For this issue, which editor Rick Stengel indicated is their largest ever, the company hired a mylar supplier from Minnesota to provide 6,965,000 pieces of the reflective substance. Ironically, the website will have to differ a bit from the print piece. The home page of Time will carry rotating images of pictures submitted by readers.
