Empty Out Your Wallet

This week there isn’t much out there to go on a spending spree and use up that Ticketmaster gift card we received for Christmas. If it’s necessary for us to buy tickets before we watch Iowa get their asses handed to them by Texas on Saturday afternoon at the Alamo Bowl, these are a couple shows that piqued our interest.

2006_12_kaskade.jpgKaskade’s residency at Smart Bar gets underway in 2007 bringing Chicago house back to Chicago. This now San Francisco resident will be coming off his tour for Love Mysterious before making his way here. Tickets previously on sale for the January 20th date, this week tickets for the March 17th show are up for purchase. Four more dates throughout the year are scheduled.
Smart Bar, Sat., Mar. 17, 10:00 p.m., $10, 21+, On sale now.

Chicago’s loudest rock band (their claim, not ours), The Debauchers have a cheap ticket for us at the Double Door. Lo-fi punk with an occasional slide guitar doesn’t sound half bad when we realized it’s only five bucks. How can we pass that up?
Double Door, Wed., Jan. 31, 9:00 p.m., $5, 21+, On sale Saturday.

This one is for all those guitar heroes out there. The guitarist from Triumph, Rik Emmett brings his talent to the House of Blues stage with his latest band. He’s been keeping himself busy with any sort of music that will keep his fingers strumming – jazz, swing, blues, and the good ol’ rock ballad.
House of Blues, Sat., Jan. 27, 9:00 p.m., $21.50, 21+, On sale now.

Be safe ringing in the New Year this weekend and we wish everyone a more rockin’ 2007!
