Weather Can't Hold You Down

Whether you like the freakish warm weather we've had or have been desperately wishing you were stranded in Denver for the last few weeks, it can often be a challenge to keep up one's fitness regimes in cold weather. You know, you're tired, or your bike isn't suited for the ice, or you're lazy ... whatever. We just wanted to let you know the Chicago Park District is apparently there for you.

The park district is offering free admission to its fitness centers throughout the city until January 14. That means free weights, aerobics and all that jazz at the 40 centers throughout the city. If you're like us and have been banned from using treadmills because you often fall down and get rugburn on your face, never fear — there's something for you, too. February 12-18 CPD will be offering free yoga classes, and if you're not up for that, either, then you can just go down and have a health professional take your blood pressure, which is both a joke about you being uptight and another nice thing CPD will be doing.

Our favorite Chicago Park District offering is still the super-cheap seasonal swimming passes at pools throughout the city, but it seems silly not to check out these offers. If you end up being interested, a membership is $50 for three months. And it's definitely hard to poo-poo that.
