The Sky is Falling

Unless you've been under a rock, or a piece of a plane, you probably heard that part of a cargo plane headed for Midway fell into a woman's bedroom at her home on the 5100 block of South Tripp.
The FAA, who probably thought about blaming it on an unusual weather pattern, traced the disc-like turbine wheel to a plane headed from Milwaukee. The plane is a Mitsubishi that is traced to American Check Transport, an operation that, well, transports checks.
Dorothy Gohn, the homeowner who sounds like the cutest lady ever, tried to pick up the wheel after it crashed directly next to her bed, but dropped it like it was hot. It was 1:30 a.m. and Gohn, who is in her 70's, went back to bed. According to the Sun-Times article, her son came by to check on the damage and made her call the authorities.
The pilot didn't indicate anything was wrong with the plane, but upon inspection the FAA noted significant damage to the wings and engine.
With two extremely busy airports in the area, we are surprised this hasn't happened more. Earlier this week a hangar door, in two pieces, fell from of a plane headed from Travis Air Force Base in Sacramento for Hawaii. The pieces of this plane also landed in a residential area, only damaging a wooden fence. Has anyone else seen unusual things fall from the sky? We saw some sort of small knob fall one time, but we assumed it was some devious bird trying to take us out.
