Ctrl - Alt - Rock v2.0: Still the Only Game in Town
By Scott Smith in Arts & Entertainment on Jan 18, 2007 10:41PM
We’re less than a month away from Ctrl – Alt –Rock, version 2.0 (February 8 at Double Door) and we’re now convinced that we’ve assembled a lineup so powerful that all other rock bands have fled for the hills.
To be fair, there are other shows going on that night, but it’s pretty slim pickings. There was a rumor of a Lily Allen show at Metro, but apparently the British pixie’s all talk. So we feel confident in saying this will be the best night of rock in Chicago that evening, whether you’re someone who goes to shows every single weekend or if you’ve never set foot in a rock club in your life.
The Reptoids, The Ladies and Gentlemen, Farewell Captain, and The Passerines. All there for your aural pleasure.
Not only is this one of the cheapest shows in town that night, but it’s also the most bang for your meager buck. Even if you're Tardy McSlowpoke and show up late, you'll still only pay $7 to see four of Chicago’s best up-and-coming bands. But if you plan ahead and keep reading Chicagoist, you can get your hands on advance tickets to print out before the show for only $5. Watch for those, as well as features on each of the bands and a downloadable mix tape.
As befits any Chicagoist event, there’ll be some free stuff on-hand for the early birds, including libations to get you in the mood and to stave off that winter chill.
Ctrl – Alt – Rock v. 2.0 throws down at Double Door on Thursday, February 8, at 9 p.m. with The Reptoids, The Ladies and Gentlemen, Farewell Captain, and The Passerines.
