SXSW Rumor Mill Chicago Edition

Austinist got us thinking about the Mecca that is SXSW when they compiled their list of bands allegedly playing the conference. We decided that we should google and Myspace around and see which bands from Chicago may be heading down there during Spring Break, March 14-18. The list isn’t that big yet, but that’s because everyone is doing a better job of keeping their mouths shut until the official announcement comes next week.

The usual subjects from Chicago will be having their own parties – Bloodshot (March 17th), Pitchfork, and Schuba’s. These guys are still keeping a tight grip on their line-ups, however. We came across a Polyvinyl showcase at Emo’s on Friday, March 16th and Sinister Muse’s day party at Momo’s, also on the 16th.

Following are a few of the bands from the Chicagoland area that have Austin gigs listed during SXSW.

The Headlights
The Ponys
Dead Town Revival
Treaty of Paris
Scouts Honor

We heard Mucca Pazza might be going, but couldn’t find anything supporting that on their websites. Let us know in the comments if you’ve heard any rumors about who is heading down south and west in March.
