Love, Chicago Style

We're sure that there are some women in this town who, not understanding the importance of the Bears to their husbands, think that they're loving wives simply because they'll let him watch the game without asking him to take out the garbage or fix the dripping sink in the middle of the game. Or maybe some will expect their husband to watch the kids all Saturday while she goes shopping, in return for his spending the day at the game with his buddies. Especially since he look so ridiculous dressed from head to toe in orange!
Then there are the wives like Colleen Pavelka, from southwest suburban Homer Glen. Colleen knows exactly how big a game Sunday's NFC Championship game was to her husband, Mark. Due to give birth today, she had labor induced on Friday so that Mark could attend the game.
"I thought, how could (Mark) miss this one opportunity that he might never have again in his life?" said Pavelka.
With her doctor's OK, labor was induced and their son, Mark Patrick Pavelka, was born late Friday night. Mark Sr. got to watch the game at Soldier Field, while his wife planned to introduce their son to the Bears from her hospital bed.
We here in the Chicagoist offices are pretty sure that there are some who think that Mrs. Pavelka is the greatest wife ever. We're also sure that there are plenty who are appalled at her inducing just so that her hubby could go to the game. Clearly, the lesson from this tale is to simply avoid any hanky panky during the month of April, lest a pregnancy get in the way of a possible Bears playoff run.
